How To Choose The Right Lighting For Your Marquee
There are always lots of options to think about when it comes to marquee hire and lighting is a very important factor as it really helps to create the right atmosphere for the event.
We have written a brief guide to help give you an idea of what you may need. For further advice please feel free to send us an email or give us a call.
Fairy Lights
When hiring a marquee, it’s usually a first for the customer and whenever they ask for our advice on lighting, the first question to ask is what type of event they are having. If it’s a birthday party (16th, 18th, 21st, 40th etc) I would usually suggest fairy lighting, as this gives creates a dim, ambient effect in the party tent. They also have many different settings such as strobe, steady and flicker. This type of marquee lighting is perfect for parties where there is dancing as the light is not too bright and so doesn’t spoil the atmosphere. The fairy lights also compliment the disco lighting.
These can be hung inside or outside the marquee in any fashion you require. These fairy lights can also be hired for outside and around the house, for example on trees. They are great for weddings and look amazing in tipis wrapped around the wooden poles.
Disco Lights
The disco light is a spinning, flashing ball spraying out an array of colours and shapes and even works in time with the music! Perfect again for dancing and birthday parties. Especially younger parties such as 16th, 18th and 21st birthdays.
Festoon Lighting
Festoon lighting is a great no nonsense lighting for marquee hire when you need bright lighting and can be used for sit down meals or to light up catering tents. They are also popular with wedding marquee hire, often with the festoons lights being hung outside the marquee near the entrance. They have that great boho chic look and are very popular with festival weddings. Festoon lights also work very well in Garden Marquees, being hung inside or outside the marquee and are great for more causal dinner parties.
They can be used to light up an external walkway, leading guests through the dark towards the marquee. These are designed to give your marquee a vintage, fairground look. Bulbs are available both frosted or clear. If you are going for a barn or traditional marquee these are a must.
Chandeliers
Chandeliers are great when booking a Wedding marquee, for a formal sit-down meal or for a corporate marquee affair. Elegantly hanging from the ceiling in between the marquee linings to give a classy, posh effect in the marquee. They come in a brass effect and give off a bright light to really light the marquee up well.
Verdict: Want a dim, party ambience for chilling out, dancing and using the marquee for a party or casual event? Go for the fairy lights with the disco lights.
Posh, corporate or wedding event with a sit down meal? Chandeliers! For all other events that require bright lighting or for that vintage wedding look go for festoon lights.
